What’s the location of the lodge?
The Albatroz Lodge is located in one of the prime areas of Ubatuba, between two of the towns postcards. The Lázaro and Domingas Dias beaches on one side and the Saco da Ribeira inlet on the other, at the 63,3 km marker of the Rio-Santos highway. See the pictures in our homepage under LOCALIZATION. The same distance we have on one side, we have on the other. In the Saco da Ribeira inlet is the pier from where the schooners depart for trips to the islands and nearby beaches,and it features also boats for rent for fishing trips, diving and other water sports. Boat hangars, the Ubatuba Yacht Club and stores for diving equipment, air cylinders, nautical workshops, the northern headquarters of the oceanographic institute of the University of São Paulo, USP, a. o.. There are also two supermarkets, two gas stations, ATM’s of the Bradesco and Itaú banks, a pharmacy, fishmonger, ice-cream bar, restaurant, pizza-inn, grocery, car repair shop, tire-service, real-estate agents, hardware and construction stores, beachwear and haberdasher shops and schooner-trip rentals.

How far is the lodge from the beach?
We are five blocks away from the Lazaro beach.

Has it a restaurant, do we serve meals?
We do not serve meals. We have a deck-bar with fast food type snacks such as hamburgers, cold and hot ham and cheese sandwiches, Italian sausage (Calabreza), French fries, polenta(corn porridge), chicken filets (Sadia brand) fish, squid, mussels, octopus, shrimp, ice-creams, fruit juices, hot drinks ( Cognac, Vermouth, Whisky, Caipirinha and other cocktails) salads, beers, soft drinks and bottled water.

What is the form of payment?
Our form of payment is rather flexible and established case by case, depending on the anticipation of the reservation and the time-span required by the quest. We accept all credit cards. In general a partial down payment is made at the confirmation of the reservation and the rest is paid right at the lodge.

What credit cards are accepted?
We accept all credit cards. VISA – MASTERCARD – AMERICAN EXPRESS – REDE SHOP – MAESTRO – DINERS CLUB



Has it air conditioning?
All apartments are of the same lay-out concerning comfort and content. Air conditioning only in the bedroom as well as a ceiling-ventilator in the bed and living rooms.

What is in the apartments?
All apartments are equipped with TV, phone-interphone, ( 3) beach chairs, (1) sunshade, bedclothes, table-linen, and towels. There is a small laundry/service area with a washbasin and clothes-line, kitchen with 4-burner stove, refrigerator (280 L.), basic kitchenware, dishes, glasses, tableware, ceiling-ventilator in the living and bedrooms, broom, squeegee, bucket and mop, air-conditioner in the bedroom. Some apartments feature a hammock to be hung on the veranda, and a small backyard. All have veranda turned to the inner yard of the lodge facing the garden.

How far is it to downtown Ubatuba ?
From the Lazaro beach to downtown Ubatuba it’s about 18 to 20 km.

Has it a bar, snacks, appetizers?
We have a bar on the deck with fast food type snacks such as hamburgers, cold and hot ham and cheese sandwiches, Italian sausage (Calabreza), French fries, polenta(corn porridge), chicken filets (Sadia brand) fish, squid, mussels, octopus, shrimp, ice-creams, fruit juices, hot drinks ( Cognac, Vermouth, Whisky, Caipirinha and other cocktails) salads, beers, soft drinks and bottled water

How can I make my reservation?
Reservations are always made by phone in São Paulo at the numbers 11 - 6918.7745 / 11 – 6216.7071 phone/fax, or in Ubatuba at the numbers 12 – 3842.0698 / 12 – 3842.2853 / 12 – 3842.3539 phone/fax. Or in case of international reservations by e-mail: atendimento@pousadaalbatroz.com.br In this case the down payment for the confirmation of the booking shall be made with VISA / AMERICAN EXPRESS credit cards.
Has it budget apartments?
Regarding comfort, content and layout, all apartments are of the same category.

How the lodge is equipped?
The Albatroz lodge has 20 apartments, and two pools (adults and children), (3) kiosks with barbecue grills, a mini-volleyball/beach-ball square, a playground, a deck-bar, a game room with a full-size billiard table, ping-pong, mini-billiard, pebolim ( table soccer), checker-board table, card tables, internal parking lot (not covered), reception, broad-band internet, mini-lake and a very pleasant garden.

Has it cable TV?
The lodge offers open channel TV (satellite dish) and 5 more cable channels, with no change option in the rooms.

Has it room maids and housekeeping service? Does it charge a service tax of 10%?
Our maid and housekeeping service is optional. It will only be done if requested by the guest, and in this case a 10% service tax will be added to the daily rate. Otherwise the housekeeping is up to the guest. Towels are changed daily and bedclothes, table lining and mop are changed every four (4) days.

What are the nearest beaches ?
Ubatuba has 76 beaches. The beaches around the lodge are: Lázaro, Domingas Dias, Sununga and Saco da Ribeira. The Lázaro beach is very calm, specially on its left side, and good for bathing even for children.

Are there hiking trails in the neighborhood?
There’s an interesting trail that can be walked starting from the lodge, passing by the Saco da Ribeira inlet, the Dionísia, Flamengo and Flamenguinho beaches up to the Sete Fontes beach. For this and other trails we recommend the assistance of hired guides.

Does it offer schooner trips, motor-boats?
Starting from the Saco da Ribeira inlet there are several options for schooner trips to the Anchieta island ( old prison), or passing by several neighboring beaches. There are motor-boats for rent for fishing, sightseeing, diving etc.

Does it offer something special for honeymooners?
There’s a special reception for honeymooners, with champagne, chocolate truffles, fruits, flowers, bed decorated with flower petals etc.

Can it be reached by bus?
Starting from the Tiete bus Terminal in São Paulo, a regular bus service by the “Litorânea” bus company with almost new, safe, comfortable and air conditioned busses is offered and presently ( 30/10/2005) costs around R$ 35,50 per passenger. The arrival is about one and half blocks away (+- 150 m.) from the hotel, at the Hudson gas station at the Lazaro beach. (Instruct the driver about where you want to leave the bus). There a car rental service at Ubatuba’s airport.

What’s the best access route? ? See more details.
The recommended route is to drive up to the town of São Jose dos Campos on the Dutra or Airton Senna highway. From there take the exit to the Tamoios highway and drive to Caraguatatuba and then by the Santos-Rio highway to Ubatuba until the 63.3 km marker. As an option you may also drive by the Oswaldo Cruz highway from the town of Taubaté towards Ubatuba. You can also take the Santos –Rio highway passing through the town of São Sebastião. For who’s coming from Rio de Janairo, the option is the Rio-Santos highway, passing trough the towns of Angra dos Reis and Parati.

What’s the distance to Parati?
From the Lázaro beach to Parati it takes about 85 km. To São Paulo it is 215 km and to Taubaté it takes 110 km. To São Jose dos Campos it is 125 km. All the distances are approximated.

What’s to be sen in Ubatuba?
The highlight of Ubatuba are its 76 beaches, almost all of excellent quality with lots of well preserved Atlantic forests, some Indian tribes, several trails, the ruins of Lagoinha, a permanent handicraft fair, a museum. The Picinguaba nucleus, the shrimp festival at the Aumada beach in June/July, a boat parade at St. Peters Day, an artisans route on the Cazanga road in the Perequê-Açu area, a downtown Aquarium and lots of hospitality. .
